Inspiration – Not A Real Artist

Dec 5, 2022 | My Thoughts

On my way back from visiting family, I continued listening to a new podcast by Iris Fritschi-Cussens and Tamara Sagathevan called, “Not a Real Artist”. You can find them on your favorite podcast service but here they are on Apple. I just listened to episode 2 and they presented a lot of thoughts I need to noodle on. But one thing that I just have to get off my chest and try to embed in my brain is that it is ok to sit in your shit and that it can be beneficial to both sit in it and get messy with art supplies as you sit with it. This was liberating and inspiring for me! As the entire podcast was about inspiration and the illusive, and often stifling nature around seeking it, I found just having the discussion quite inspiring. Take a listen and see what you think.

Tamara mention Iris’s work on a black substrate so I had to check it out. Her Neocolour II art is stunning and thought provoking. I am obsessed with her loose, wild, creative explosion of emotion and want to glean a bit more of that for myself in much of my work. I think it is time to pull out my art journal again and see how far I can stretch myself!

So much more to reflect on but I’ll save that for another day.
